Top 10 List of Top 10 Lists

On social media sites, you don’t have to look to far to find a top 10 list, pretty much all you have to do is throw a rock in any given direction and you’ll stumble upon at least a few of them on a wide array of topics. We can thank David Letterman and Wayne’s World for bringing the top 10 list to the forefront pop culture.
There are plenty of reasons that people read and write top 10 lists. They are really easy to read and digest. They indulge our ADD and ADHD. They make great headlines. They’re a staple of a culture obsessed with ranking things. And finally, top 10 lists are a cheap, nasty, and highly effective way to get traffic to your blog.

So to celebrate our obsessive compulsive need to put things into lists, I bring you the Top 10 List of Top 10 Lists!
I really think that the inclusion of this list really doesn’t need any explanation and the title is pretty self explanatory.
9. The Most Buried Comments in Digg History
You don’t have to spend much time on Digg to know that comments get dugg down. Sometimes there is good reason for it – as you get some fairly asinine comments on the site, and others for no apparent reason. My favorite however, is when a comment bury war breaks out and pretty much every comment on the article is burried into oblivion. Well some enterprizing digg user has amassed a list of some of the most burried comments ever – you should read them, some of them are pretty funny.
8. Grammar Girl’s Top 10 Language Myths
I spend a lot of time on the internet and I can attest to the horrid grammar that permeates though it. Although, I can’t throw too many stones as I have fallen victim to many of the points the author makes in her list. So to do my small bit to help improve peoples grammar, I’ve included this on my list.
7. Top 10 Drinking Achievements Before You Die
Again, this one really doesn’t need any explanation. **Disclaimer, Invoke does not recommend or encourage our readers to actually fulfill this list. You do so at your own peril. But if you do it and take pics, you should do a follow up post to it and let me know:)
6. Top 10 Religions You Never Knew Existed
Sorry my friends, but Scientology doesn’t have the market cornered on strange cults, they just have the highest profile. If you ever read the memelabs blog, you’ll see that I’ve given Scientologists a hard time over the past year – really, how could I not, Tom Cruise just made it so damn easy. So to take a bit of heat of Scientology, this list has been included.
5. The Only Prescription: Top 10 Cowbell Songs
I was really behind the times with the more cowbell phenomena. It was only about a year ago when I was out with my friend Matt who drank a little bit too much and kept repeating a refrain from the skit ad nauseum. Well ever since then, it seems that I’ve been regaled with a cornucopia of cowbell goodness.
I love LOLcats. They are cute and funny and pretty much are guaranteed to make me laugh. I’ve been pretty light at including LOLcats on the Invoke blog, but I include them over on the memelabs blog regularly. I was having a convo the other day with a friend of mine – who wishes to stay anonymous – who just doesn’t get LOLcats. So in honour of him, I’ve included this one on my list. If like me, you love LOLcats, please feel free to say why in the comments as I am needing some help getting him to understand their awesomeness.
3. The Top 10 Arguments Against DRM
This one is included because it is very timely with the events that have been going on recently. This is my small bit to try and help the cause.
2. Stand-Up or Sit-Down: The Best Excrement Disposal Accessories, Hands-Down
This list made mine for two reasons. One, is that has to be the best title I’ve read in a while. And two, they have a picture of someone wearing an artificial penis with built in urine to demonstrate their excrement disposal unit.
Again, this one doesn’t need much explanation. But if you’re still undecided on where to take your summer vacay, give this list a perusal.
