Ruby on Rails is taking the web development community by storm these days. Blending development best practices with some of the latest and greatest acronyms in web tech (AJAX,DRY), ROR has become the foundation for some of the more interesting web applications out there. What do these applications offer that traditional ones don’t? Some of these include:

Basecamp: The original ROR application. This has been called “The iPod of Project Management”. It’s just downright beautiful, ridiculously easy to use and has all of what you really need, and none of what you don’t to manage a project among your co-workers and clients.

Strongspace: “…a secure place to gather, store, back-up and share any type of file with your co-workers, friends and family. You can upload, download and manage your files over SFTP (Secure FTP) or with any modern web browser.”

43things: This web app is a social networking tool that allows you to share among people your personal goals. An interesting application that brings people together with common interests.

Keep your eyes open for more exciting web applications based off of Ruby! And let us know what your favorites are.
