First Ideas On Tap
Posted by Jenn Lowther
Last night was the first of many of the relaunched Vancouver Tech event Ideas on Tap. I was late getting to the event as I first went to the W2 Fundraising Campaign Kickoff. Invoke had a large crew at the event with Ryan, Nadia, Dave, Grace, and Amielle from tagga in attendance.
Ideas on Tap is a business networking event for tech professionals in Vancouver as well as internet advertisers, social media marketers, bloggers, video game developers and other fans of the tech community. Ideas on Tap was a Vancouver tech event that was started in 1999. At some point, the events stopped, but the people over at 6S Marketing had the brilliant idea of bringing it back to life.
The premise behind Ideas On Tap is that you’ve got 60 seconds to pitch your idea. Last night, there were some of the top names in the Vancouver Tech community lined up to tell us what they’ve been up to. The event started with Chris Breikss introducing the event and the nights speakers.
- Rebecca Bollwitt – Miss604
- Linda Bustos – Elastic Path Software
- Mike Agerbo – GetConnected
- Deborah Collins – Soya Marketing
- Andre Charland – Nitobi Software
It was great to listen to the speakers tell us what they’ve been up to, but – as usual – my favorite part of these events is going around talking with friends and meeting new people. The venue was packed last night and if last night was any indication, this is going to become a can’t miss Vancouver event!

A great evening.
A small, hopefully constructive suggestion to the organizers, if they’re reading this–next time, better mics! I really wanted to hear what the speakers had to say, but the din in the room and the screechy mic made it tricky.
Other than that, what a fantastic night! The place was packed with a variety of people, and not all of them were from the new media sphere–a testament not only to great event promotion, but to entrepreneurial Vancouver’s eagerness to engage and interact. Diverse turnout at events like this bodes well for our city.
