So here’s some great news: memelabs has won the award for Most Innovative Digital Media Technology!

We’d also like to congratulate our good friends at Hootsuite on being named one of Canada’s top digital media companies.

Thanks to everyone for their support and congratulatory notes, and of course, thank you to the Digi Awards for this honour. We’re very pleased indeed.

In the good news department, Invoke has been nominated for a couple of Digi Awards! The memelabs platform and the Eat Street App are both nominated for the nextMEDIA 2012 Digi Awards.

Previously known as the Canadian New Media Awards, the Digi Awards are Canada’s premiere showcase of the remarkable digital media companies, projects, products and pioneers that are putting Canada at the forefront of the international mediascape.

Along with our pals at HootSuite and Yellow Pages, we’re thrilled to have two products among the top digital apps in Canada. We have been nominated in two categories.

Most innovative digital media technologies:
Memelabs (Invoke)
ScreenScape (ScreenScape Networks Inc.)
YellowAPI (Yellow Pages Group)

and

Best in location-based services:
Eat St. iPhone App (Invoke)
Yellow Pages Application (Yellow Pages Group)
19-2 (The IvI* studio)

Expert Digi Award juries from across Canada will comb through the list of nominees, selecting final Digi Award winners. They will be honoured on the final day of the conference. So fingers crossed, as the winners will be announced live at the award ceremony on Dec. 6.

UPDATE: Thank you all for your votes! The voting stage of the Panel Pickers has ended. *Fingers crossed.

March 9 to 13, 2012 may seem really far away, but not for those attending South By Southwest 2012. The SXSW Panel Picker entries are now live on the site, and the voting/commenting phase has started.

Invoke is no stranger to the annual tech/music/food cart nerd party that is South By Southwest. Last year, senior strategists Nadia Nascimento and Grace Carter made a big splash presenting Das Stiletto: Discovering Ladykind in the Social Web.

This year we’re back and have 3 topics we think you should participate in and vote for.

New to team Invoke this year, are account managers Sean Tyson and Peter Lanfear. The handsome duo chose to go with one of Invoke’s specialties for their panel proposal. In Transmedia vs. multi-screen distractions, Sean and Peter set out to explain how marketers can embrace the smartphone opportunity. Pulling from Invoke’s Eat St. app success, they will decipher how TV shows and smart phones can enhance each other in terms of marketing. They’ll also chat about what exactly transmedia is and how will it affect marketers in 2012.

Luigi Lopresti’s Who moved my media panel proposal explores multiple and overlapping consumption of media products, how technology and advertising companies can overcome these obstacles and more.

Nadia Nascimento has a panel proposal up with BFFs Grace Carter, Mike Lee and Dennis Yang. The panel is sure to be one full of laughs, ideas and brilliant trends for good. The panel titled Which trends would you Marry, Fuck or Kill? looks at the state of social media, media and entertainment, social good and e-commerce. If you’re looking to be inspired, have a laugh and meet some brilliant minds, vote on and comment on this panel.

The panels will stay open to voting and comments until Sept. 2. We’d really like to hear your feedback via commenting on the entries. Suggestions, questions, praise — let us know!

Sean and Peter — Transmedia vs. multi-screen distractions. http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/8861
Luigi Lopresti — Who moved my media? http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/11469
Nadia and friends — Which trends would you Marry, Fuck or Kill? http://panelpicker.sxsw.com/ideas/view/12357

First, we broke the news that we made the top 25 finalists for the Launch @ GROW (#LPGROW) contest with the help of all our amazing friends, fans, and followers. Then, we found out that the judges had selected Food.ee to be one of the 15 semi-finalists to attend and demo at the GROW conference in Vancouver at the opening night party. Check out the announcement on techvibes here.

What does this mean? Out of nearly 60 entries, Food.ee was chosen by the fans, and by the judges to demo and pitch our product to likeminded professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, and influencers at the Launch @ GROW opening night party on Aug. 17. The invite-only program brings together promising entrepreneurs with leading Silicon Valley and Canadian founders, connectors and investors to meet, discuss, debate, and glean information to understand how to innovate in a web-fuelled world. The day will consist of a variety of small (10 person), 30 minute, interactive group conversations. These are off the record, round-table discussions. There will be no panels, no press, no tweeting.

But it doesn’t end there. At the opening night party, four start-ups, as chosen by the judges, will win the chance to pitch live on-stage at the full-day GROW conference Aug. 18.

The GROW 2011 Conference takes place Aug. 17-19 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, BC. It is a technology conference that brings together leading entrepreneurs, thinkers, learners, and investors from Silicon Valley and Canada to inspire innovation and entrepreneurship.

Food.ee is a new web application from Invoke that allows you to order takeout or delivery food from the comfort of your couch. We’re launching soon and have begun to roll out beta-tester invites to our early-adopters. Food.ee is designed to make ordering food online easy, intuitive and social. The website gets to know you and helps you decide what to eat by offering up recommendations based on a personal profile of tastes and preferences.

If you’d like to stay up to date on new restaurants, tasty giveaways, and insight from chefs on their favourite takeout dishes, follow Food.ee’s Foxee on the blog, Facebook and Twitter.
